Pope Benedict XVI has said that the Catholic Church is the one true church and that other Christian denominations are defective or not true, full churches of Jesus Christ.  The Pope says that he is correcting what he feels are erronious interpretations of the Second Vatican Council. He says that Lutheran, Protestant and other Christian denominations aren’t true churches because their Bishops cannot trace their roots back to Christ, and therefore don’t have the “means of salvation“.

Maybe it’s me, but the last thing the Roman Catholic Church should be doing is trying to revert back to the “good old days”. If anybody should be running from their past, it’s the Catholic Church. And Germany. But especially the Catholic Church.

Things were going so well with religions around the world, what with all the peace and all. I guess getting Christians mad at each other, as well as the Jews, can just make things more peaceful.
